According to Marcin Chaj, Head of Products at PacketFront Software, that mindset shift is changing how OSS platforms are developed and how success is measured.
“The question is no longer whether a platform can do something. Most mature OSS platforms can. The question is how easily and quickly that capability can be used and how much value it creates for the people running the network,” says Marcin Chaj.
Over the past year, the company has worked closely with customers, partners, and operators across different markets, and the message has been consistent; teams are looking for ways to reduce complexity, improve visibility, strengthen security, and scale without adding specialist resources.

The industry has spent years solving technical challenges,” says Chaj. “Now the focus is shifting towards operational challenges. How do you simplify processes? How do you reduce manual work? How do you help teams achieve more with the existing resources? That is where we see the biggest opportunity and how we are shaping our Product portfolio. Not only simplifying our own platform, but also grow the ecosystem with integrations and technology partners.”
Different starting points
Not every operator starts from the same place. Some organisations have dedicated OSS teams, while others need a more guided and streamlined approach. This has led to the development of BECS Editions.
