PacketFront enters Sub-Saharan Africa with milestone FTTH deal in Nigeria

PacketFront Software is proud to announce a partnership with Aldreda Fields Limited (AFL Networks), a fibre start-up based in Nigeria. This marks PacketFront’s first customer in Sub-Saharan Africa and a key milestone as the company expands its global footprint.

Aldreda Fields is currently building an Open Access FTTH network in the Lagos metropolitan area. With ambitious growth targets ahead, Aldreda Fields has chosen to implement PacketFront’s BECS network orchestration and BBE service fulfilment platforms to support its expansion.

Rather than waiting to implement automation as the business grows, AFL Networks is putting scalable operations in place from the very beginning, alleviating the growing pains and hidden costs that many operators face. This ensures a smooth and cost-efficient growth path.

“We’re excited to support AFL Networks as they build a modern, open-access fibre network from the ground up,” says Jonny Wetterborn, CEO of PacketFront Software. “This partnership is not only a first for us in the region, it’s also a strong signal that Africa’s fibre market is ready for automation. We’re proud to be part of this next chapter.”

AFL Networks is also deploying Calix and Keypro solutions, which integrate seamlessly with PacketFront’s platform. Together, these tools form a fully automated, future-proof ecosystem that supports fast, stable growth and excellent customer experience.

This collaboration highlights PacketFront’s pioneering role in Open Access networks, a model that aligns perfectly with the region’s demand for more open, competitive, and scalable infrastructure.

“Right from the start, we recognised the need for a foundation that could support rapid growth of our Open Access FTTH Network without increasing complexity. PacketFront’s BECS and BBE solutions enable us to operate a structured, automated system from day one, allowing us to concentrate on expanding our network and serving our customers, rather than dealing with behind-the-scenes issues.” says Kunle Ogunbufunmi, Chief Operations Officer, AFL Networks.
